Hello, Darkness my old friend comprises of an accumulation of experiments - drawing sketches and paintings, documentation of a performance, fragments of paper materials - all collated, in an attempt, to concretize my way of seeing and experiencing a place. The title of the book responds to the encounter during an artist-in-residence stay in Ólafsfjördur, North Iceland - where there are no nights in summer ; yet mystically sand from the beaches are as black and glistening as a starry night. The pages are a record of the journey of how I made an associative connection between the two and turned the concept into visual and literal representation. I explore the odd in the ordinary, articulate and transform certain accents to space, moods, perception and other personal experience.
